Google has officially announced the visual makeover of Android. The operating system will undergo a redesign of both its name’s typography and its classic robot logo.

In the new identity, the name ‘Android’ will feature a new font and begin with an uppercase ‘A,’ unlike the current version, which is all lowercase. As for the ‘little robot,’ it will transition from 2D to a 3D rendering, creating a depth effect.
These visual changes aim to reflect a more open, iterative, and inclusive approach to Android, according to Jason Fournier, Director of Consumer Brand Management for Android.
“We believe that our branding system and how we visually present ourselves to the world as Android should reflect the core spirit of Android, which is open, iterative, and inclusive. That’s why we’re sharing an update to our visual identity that better represents our Android community—and it’s also a lot of fun.”
